LEADERSHIP & COMMUNITY OUTREACH
FENCING FOR A PURPOSE
Theodore founded Fencing For A Purpose (FFP) as a means of creating inclusivity in the sport. Recently, with the help of USA Fencing, FFP expanded to more than 26 chapters and raised over $14,000. The organization’s initiatives include fencing camps across the U.S., particularly supporting military families and children with special needs, as well as supporting fencers in Ukraine.
In November 2023, FFP proudly kicked off their support for Ukraine by sponsoring their Cadet (U17) National Championships. As part of this initiative, FFP sponsored the competition awards and supplied FIE blades to the top 4 winners in both the men’s and women’s event.
After successfully sponsoring Ukraine's Cadet (U17) National Championships in November 2023, FFP embarked on their next initiative: sponsoring travel for Ukrainian fencers aged 10-15 to participate in one of the world's largest youth tournaments held in Wroclaw, Poland. Recognizing the incredible talent and dedication of these young athletes, FFP aimed to provide them with the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international platform. The initiative sponsored a total of 72 fencers, including 50 foil fencers and 22 epee fencers, covering their travel expenses and enabling them to compete at this prestigious event. It was a testament to FFP’s commitment to supporting the aspirations and dreams of young athletes amidst challenging circumstances.
Finally, FFP’s Language Initiative paired more than 35 young Ukranian fencers to study English with young American fencers, guided by a 12 session study guide developed by Theodore and the FFP team.
